Elena and Viktor formed "Melnyk" ACCORDION DUO and since 1995 have been giving cocerts. After their settling in Bulgaria they won the love of the audience and the respect of the critics with the most prestigious award at The International Accordion Competition in Asenovgrad (Bulgaria) in 1998, series of festival appearances and recitals and rich repertoire. Besides the original own arrangements of compositions from different periods and genres thus showing not only the composition contens but also the technical and sound capacity of the accordion. They play in an accordion guartet with Petar and Angel Marinovs and have recorded together a compact disk.

Elena Melnyk was born in Kalingrad, Russia. Galina Davidova and Lyudmila Winter taught her at the Riga School of Music. She graduated from P.I.Chaykowski National Academy of Music (PICNAM) in Kiev, Ukraine, in Prof. Nikolay Davidov'saccordion class. Prior to 1996, she has been an accordion teacher at the School of Culture in Kiev.

Vicktor Melnyk was born in Rovno, Ukraine. He took his first steps in Konstantine Morokhovetz's button accordion class and continued his study under Alfred Grebenyuk's guidance at the School of Music in Kiev, Ukraine. He graduated from P.I.Chaykowski National Academy of Music (PICNAM) in Kiev, in Prof. Dmitriy Alexeev's button accordion class. Alongside his education, Viktor Melnyk earned a qualification in accordion tuning and repair.
